Jennie produces linocut prints in colour and black and white.
Her work is influenced largely by the urban environment, with
the familiar, patterns, colour and repetitions, the way space
is taken up, and an interest in architecture. Having lived
in the local area for the past 20 years this has been an influence
on much of work with many recognisable scenes from London,
Richmond-upon-Thames and the Hampton areas.
She
left full time secretarial work at Channel Four Television
in1997 to undertake a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design
at Richmond upon Thames College. She went on to take a degree
in Fine Art Printmaking at Croydon College and then to Wimbledon
School of Art where she gained a Masters Degree in 2002.
During the next few years she continued to work part time
for Channel Four while developing her print work. At the
beginning of 2005 she made the decision to pursue a full
time art career. Two short contracts as a college print
technician followed which was an invaluable experience in
developing her knowledge of printmaking. During this time
she purchased a Victorian printing press and set up her
own studio space.
Jennie
is involved with the Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington
where she enjoys running workshops several times a year
to introduce the relief printmaking process to adults. She
also undertakes front of house duties there during events
and fairs.
Her
work can be seen in a number of galleries and she exhibits
regularly with Richmond Printmakers as well as showing work
at art fairs including at the Landmark Arts Centre, The
Untitled Artists Fair in Chelsea, the Urban Art Fair in
Brixton and Printfest in Cumbria.
