Jim Woodman took up painting full time in the year 2000
after giving up a career in the corporate sector. He is
now a very active painter exhibiting widely and involved
with a number of painting groups and associated bodies.
His inspiration is the landscape which he paints in both
watercolours and acrylics. Much of his work celebrates the
rough, moody beauty of Scotland particularly the Isle of
Skye. He contrasts this work with paintings of the Thames
and of Hampton Court Palace and Marble Hill House, and occasionally
ventures into the hot climates of Southern Europe, particularly
Tuscany and Spain.
He
has exhibited at the Fountain Gallery since 2003 and is
a regular exhibitor at the Midsummer Art Fair held at the
Landmark Centre, Teddington. He has been selected for the
Annual Exhibition of the Royal Society of Painters in Water
Colour at the Mall Galleries. His work is exhibited at the
Chase Art Centre, Wadebridge, Cornwall. John Iddon Fine
Art displays his work at the Affordable Art Fair, Battersea
and the Annual Works on Paper Exhibition at the Royal College
of Art. He is an active member of a number of art societies
and was chairman of the Twickenham Art Circle and the Richmond
Art Society. Until recently he was the deputy chairman of
the Richmond upon Thames Arts Council.
