Suzy was born in Surrey and studied art at Brighton Polytechnic,
followed by graphic design at Goldsmiths’ College,
London, in the late seventies. She has had a career as a
graphic designer working in point of sale, advertising and
publishing before setting up as a freelance graphic designer.
Following a trip to Brazil in early 2003, Suzy produced
and sold a large number of limited edition photographs.
Her real passion for painting was rekindled when she began
working on compositions and ideas from her photographs using
acrylic paints.
Two visits to Barcelona inspired Suzy to paint a series
of vibrant and exciting abstracts based on the amazing serpentine
bench in Park Guell. In September 2006, this successful
collection was exhibited in a one- woman show, Suzy’s
first exhibition at the Fountain Gallery.
The Barcelona abstract paintings led Suzy to the introduction
and exploration of surface texture in her work. Since then,
using these developed techniques, she has painted a colourful
series of ‘larger than life’ exotic fruits inspired
by a trip to Cape Town.
Suzy maintains that her art is not necessarily about the
subject matter but all to do with the way she sees it. She
is motivated by constantly challenging herself with new
ideas and techniques and feels she is on an exciting, enjoyable,
continual learning curve!
Suzy has now exhibited widely in Surrey and Sussex and at
the Battersea Contemporary Art Fair. She also has a permanent
collection of work at Crawley Hospital, W. Sussex and has
sold work to both corporate and private buyers in the UK,
Holland, U.S.A and Japan.
