In this exhibition of new paintings, Edwina Wardle focuses on elements in the natural world that she finds meaningful – the lines of a landscape, the textures and shapes of grasses, twigs and leaves. Sometimes these elements are recognisable, sometimes they become abstract suggestions to express the mysterious forces that she perceives in Nature. Flowers, trees, stems and seed heads become actors in a drama or develop personalities of their own, hinting at a world beyond the obvious – the bigger picture.
