Ann Marie Whaley is ‘Taking Shape’ from 29th April to 10th May. Ann Marie continues with a theme of ‘taking shape’ as she uses landscape, especially that along the south coast of England, as a sort of visual playground; the ever-changing tides, weather, and seasons are a generous source of material. Her usual way is to spend time out of doors making many quick sketches on paper, rapidly trying to capture what catches her eye in that location on that day. And shape dominates what is of interest. In the studio, these sketches are the source, and in effect become the landscape that she works from. Charcoal, acrylic, oils, paper and canvas are all part of the mix, as
