New Shows for the Summer Months

The next two months bring exciting new shows from both our resident and guest artists. They have it all covered from paintings, ceramics, embroidered textures to sculptures and more. With our shows changing fortnightly the gallery is always fresh with new art to enjoy. There’s sure to be something to suit everyone.

Our next show opens this coming Tuesday, 7th July, with Alison Holt and Jaci Hogan. Woodlands and Wild Seas brings you vibrant, textured interpretations of the natural world by Alison, with intricate, colourful embroideries alongside beautifully observed pastel drawings by Jaci. Call in to see their fabulous show any day except Monday until Sunday 19th July.

With paintings, sculptures and ceramics, Of This Earth, with Debbie Tearle, Nicci Fairbank and Sue Mathieson opens on Tuesday 21st July and brings you a wonderful visual and tactile journey where earthbound materials are transformed and reimagined into forms that transcend time, place and perception. The show closes on Sunday 2nd August.

Guest artist Katherine Barney’s show runs from 4th to 16th August. Katherine, from Norfolk, brings bright hand-painted ceramics from lamps to vases, to bowls and cups, all based on the natural world, animals and flowers.

Joanna Lloyd’s show is next bringing us a vibrant combination of cast glass sculptures and paintings, rich in texture and drenched in colour. A blend of nature and landscape. She is joined by mixed media artist, Louise Rowe, in what promises to be a great show. It runs from 18th to 30th August.

This brings you to the end of the next two months in the gallery, we hope you enjoy visiting the shows find something to your fancy there.

And now for some snippets of our arty lives away from the gallery. Summer is generally quiet but we do have some news.

Stephanie Wilkinson is currently exhibiting original colourful paintings and vibrant limited edition prints at local framers, But Is It Art, 168 High St, Teddington TW11 8HU. Pop along to choose something and get it framed at the same time! Until end August. 

Tracy Florance will be taking part in Urban Art in Brixton on 11th and 12th July.  A great outdoor show with lots to see!

Tessa Pearson RWS is exhibiting with the Royal Watercolour Society at the Whitcomb Street Gallery (next to the National Gallery, off Trafalgar Square) in their Summer Salon showcase opening 11th July - well worth a visit to see a lively show of the best in contemporary water-based painting.

There are a couple of places left on Tessa's course at the wonderful Coombe Farm Studios from 27th September - 2nd October 'Layered Landscapes, exploring Colour and Pattern with collage'. Enjoy a creative break at this inspiring venue with delicious meals and a huge studio space in rural Devon.

Jim Woodman will be exhibiting his latest Scottish paintings at the Aberdeen Art Fair to be held at the Old Music Hall in Aberdeen from the 28th to the 30th August. If you’re in that area and would like more information see http://www.aberdeenartfair.co.uk/
